Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how SETA News, the publisher of setanews.co.za, handles information associated with visits to our blog and communications with us. SETA News is an independent South African blog about education, training and career opportunities. For privacy questions, contact admin@setanews.co.za.

Information You Provide

When you email us, we receive your email address, the information in your message and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond to questions, investigate corrections, discuss contributions or advertising enquiries, and manage the correspondence.

If you leave a comment on a post where comments are enabled, WordPress collects the details entered in the comment form. Technical information such as an IP address and browser information may also be processed to help detect spam. Approved comments and the display name you supply may be visible publicly. Please do not put private information in comments.

Website Usage and Google Analytics

Our blog uses Google Analytics through Site Kit by Google to understand how visitors find and use our content. Information associated with analytics can include pages viewed, interactions, referring sources, device and browser details, and identifiers associated with cookies or similar technologies. We use reports to understand readership and improve the blog.

When your browser interacts with Google services on this site, information such as the page URL and IP address can be sent to Google. Google processes information according to its policies and the relevant service settings. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Cookies and Your Choices

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. WordPress and related services may use cookies for functions such as sign-in or remembering comment details. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies for measurement according to its configuration.

You can use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect some website functions. Where a cookie-preference control is provided, you can use it to review your choices. You can also learn about the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Browser controls and an opt-out add-on do not necessarily stop every form of technical processing.

Advertising, If Enabled

SETA News may display advertisements if advertising services are activated. This section explains Google advertising when it is used; it does not confirm that every visit currently includes ads.

Third-party advertising vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on previous visits to this blog or other websites. Google advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve and measure ads using information about visits across websites.

You can manage personalised Google advertising through Google Ads Settings. Additional choices for participating advertising providers are available at aboutads.info. Turning off personalisation does not necessarily remove ads or all cookies used for measurement or fraud prevention. We will update this policy if we add advertising providers that require further disclosures.

External Links and Embedded Content

Our posts link to employer websites, application portals and other sources. When you follow an external link, the destination’s privacy practices apply. If a post includes embedded content, such as a video, its provider may receive technical information and use cookies when that content loads or is used.

SETA News does not process job, learnership or bursary applications on behalf of the organisations we discuss. Send application documents only through the official channel specified by the organisation offering the opportunity.

Service Providers and Retention

Operating the blog involves services such as website hosting, email and analytics. These providers may process information needed to deliver their services. Some providers may process information outside South Africa, subject to their policies and applicable requirements.

We retain correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to address the enquiry, maintain relevant records or meet applicable obligations. Published comments may remain with the related post unless removed. Analytics retention depends on the relevant service settings. Contact us if you need information about a particular record or wish to request deletion.

Privacy Requests and Security

You may contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information we hold about you, or to raise an objection or other privacy concern under applicable law, including South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act. We may need to verify your identity before handling a request; provide only the information necessary for that purpose. Some information may need to be retained for applicable obligations.

Email admin@setanews.co.za with “Privacy enquiry” in the subject line. Do not send passwords, bank details or identity-document scans with an initial enquiry. Internet communications and storage cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Policy Updates

We may update this policy when the blog’s services or practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. For general enquiries and corrections, visit our Contact Us page.
